Feed This! (www.feedthis.com) founders Cathi Silberman & Tiffani Beckman spoke about the benefits of a BARF diet, answered questions about their product and services and gave out samples of their Bogie Balls at our last meeting.
The Feed This product line is based on the Kymythy Schultze diet explained in detail in her book, "Natural Nutrition for Dog & Cats: The Ultimate Diet". The diet follows a few basic guidelines, no grains, yeast or dairy. Schultze has studied many holistic and allopathic modalities, including tutorage with Dr. Richard Dahout, and canine nutrition at Cornell University. Schultze is a certified Animal Health Instructor and Clinical Nutritionist, and teaches classes in Natural Nutrition and Holistic Care for Dogs and Cats at a southern California college, and through workshops worldwide. Her nutritional recommendations are endorsed by holistic and allopathic veterinarians.
BARF stands for "Bones And Raw Food" or "Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods". BARF usually refers to the Dr. Ian Billinghurst diet explained in detail in his books, "Give Your Dog A Bone" and "Grow Your Pup With Bones", but can be used to describe any diet that includes the feeding of raw, meaty bones.
